Wellness & Preventative Care Services

At Magnolia Animal Hospital, we believe that annual wellness exams are critical to evaluating your pet’s overall health. We follow your pet through the many phases of their life. From specialized and preventative care during their younger years to wellness checks as they age. We seek to prevent and detect problems before they arise. We know your pet is important to you, and that’s why we work hard to ensure they are given only the best care through the years of their life.

We are here to help you make informed nutrition choices for your pet. Maintaining a healthy body weight is very important for your pet’s health. Good nutrition can help provide your pet with a happier, longer life.  Many nutritional supplements can help fight against disease, maintain a proper weight, and promote the overall well-being of any animal.

We believe that preventative care is one of the most important aspects of maintaining your pet’s health. There are a variety of diseases that affect animals, so adequate vaccination of your pet is important in protecting them from the many types of illnesses to which they are susceptible.

The idea of your pet being infested with parasites is a disturbing thought, but it’s also a medical issue that can have serious consequences. Parasites can diminish the quality of life, deprive them of essential nutrients, and even cause life-threatening health issues.

Good dental care plays a crucial role in the quality of your pet’s life. Dental disease is the most common medical problem seen in pets and can lead to pain, tooth loss, and generalized disease.

Allergies such as skin, bacterial, and food sensitivities can make life uncomfortable for your pet. Protect your animal from irritating allergies with a proper diagnosis so that we can implement a long-term treatment plan to improve your pet’s quality of life.

Should I microchip my pet? Every year thousands of pets go missing. Even the most responsible pet owners experience broken leashes, escape artists, and thefts. Microchipping is a safe, effective, and permanent way to identify your pet in the event it gets lost or stolen.

Testing & Diagnostics

Unfortunately, pets can’t tell us where it hurts, and oftentimes, a healthy-appearing animal may be masking symptoms of disease or illness. We recommend veterinary diagnostic testing to identify any problems and to begin treatment as early as possible. These tests are especially helpful when symptoms are unspecific or hard to define.

Using radiography, we can produce high-quality diagnostic images of your pet’s tissues, organs, and bones. X-rays help us look for arthritis, broken bones, foreign objects, dental issues, enlarged organs, or respiratory dysfunction.

An ultrasound is an invaluable resource. to generate images of your pet’s internal body structures, such as muscles, tendons, joints, internal organs, and blood vessels. Ultrasound images are often ordered alongside X-rays, to get a more complete picture of your pet’s health.

Surgical Procedures

Spaying or neutering your pet is an important decision for pet owners. Removal of the male or female reproductive organs prevents unwanted pregnancies, behavior problems, and reproductive cancers from threatening your pet’s life. We offer spay and neuter surgery as part of your pet’s preventative wellness care.

We perform soft tissue surgery for various medical reasons.  This common surgery can be used for almost anything non-joint or bone-related.

Orthopedic surgery treats bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles—areas in which your pet may feel pain in from a variety of conditions. If veterinary orthopedic surgery is recommended for your pet, we will do everything possible to keep them safe and comfortable before, during, and after the surgery.

Are you traveling domestically or going out of the country?  As a federally accredited veterinary practice, we can issue travel certificates for your healthy pet so that they can travel with you.

End of Life Care

Deciding when your pet may need hospice care or euthanasia is a very personal and private decision, but that doesn’t mean you have to make this difficult choice on your own. Our hospice and humane euthanasia services are conducted with respect, compassion, and care. If you are worried you have a sick, elderly, or terminally ill pet that is suffering, call us to learn how we can help.

There are several wonderful ways to memorialize your beloved pet. Cremation can be a lovely way to honor and celebrate their lives.
