Whitney Nelson is the Practice Manager at Magnolia Animal Hospital. Originally from Opelika, Alabama, Whitney attended Southern Union State Community College, where she played two years of collegiate volleyball before transferring to Auburn University. She moved to Minnesota in 2016 and helped Dr. Curt start a large animal practice, where she managed all aspects of the practice outside of patient care.
In June 2021, Whitney again helped bring a vision to life by assisting with the startup of Magnolia Animal Hospital before taking a position with MWI Animal Health in May 2022. She returned to Magnolia in July 2026—perfectly timed to help guide the practice through its move into the new clinic.
Whitney’s love for animals, exceptional organizational skills, and natural leadership, combined with 20 years of accounting experience, make her an outstanding fit for this role. Outside of management, Whitney has a creative side many don’t know about—she designed the logos for both veterinary clinics and has been commissioned to paint numerous canvases, several being of beloved canine companions.
Michaela Nelson is our Lead Certified Veterinary Technician and is currently in her fifth year at Magnolia Animal Hospital. She earned her degree from RCTC in 2019 and has worked with animals for over 10 years. Michaela has always had a deep love for animals and a passion for helping them.
Her interest in veterinary medicine began in high school after taking an Introduction to Veterinary Medicine class, where she discovered the joy of caring for animals. She also volunteered at the Miracle of Birth Center at the Olmsted County Fair, where she learned the importance of education in animal care. During college, Michaela decided to focus her career on small animal medicine, helping our four legged family members live healthier, more comfortable lives.
The most rewarding part of Michaela’s job is caring for patients with challenging conditions and being able to provide relief—or even solutions—that improve their quality of life. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and continually advancing her skills in the field.
Michaela lives in Rochester with her boyfriend, Kyle, their three dogs—Louie, Kili, and Ragnar—and their cat, Nala. During the summer months, she also works at Deer Creek Speedway.
Amanda Nielsen is a Veterinary Assistant at Magnolia Animal Hospital and is currently in her second year with our team. She is presently in school working toward becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. Amanda has worked with animals for over 10 years and has always had a deep love for animals and helping them.
Animals bring Amanda a great deal of joy, and being able to care for them is truly fulfilling for her—making it no surprise that she has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was eight years old. Her lifelong passion for animal care continues to guide her career path.
Born in St. Paul, Amanda now lives in Hastings with her partner, Mark, and their nine year old son, Corey. Their family also includes two dogs and a cat. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys playing the violin, a hobby she has had since fourth grade, and she especially loves celebrating Halloween and Christmas.
Pam Underdahl is a Veterinary Client Service Representative at Magnolia Animal Hospital and is currently in her fourth year with our team. She loves that each pet has its own unique personality. Pam lives in Cannon Falls with her husband, Barry, along with their dog, Loki, and their cat, Dennis. Outside of work, she treasures time with her family—especially her four grandchildren.
